6 x 1024 kg
1 trillion cubic kilometers of stone
relentlessly grips and folds itself beneath us
and every single atom in our chest
and skin
and in our heavy bones
is always
always pulled down inside with it.
Every wave falls down again
every word weakened to silence
but amongst and with all these grinding giant-wars
we find this.
We find the young lightness
and we defy by our fire
and our chisels
and our etherial words
and we make
our new thing lovingly.
And that is the great wonder of
Heaven and Earth—
that of these ashes
with this dust
we see
we gather
we birth
our beauty.
